Mozarthaus Vienna

At his apartment in Domgasse 5, Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart lived for some happy and prolific years from 1784 to 1787 composing "The Impesario" and "The Marriage of Figaro" and other major works. In no other flat the famous composer lived for that long, a sure sign of his attachment to the house.

The house is being closed for extensive renovations and will be reopened on January 27th, 2006 - the exact date of the anniversary - with a bang.

The exhibition will include information on Mozart's musical genius, his family life, his friends and opponents in contemporary Vienna. You will also have a chance to listen to various Mozart melodies and to get to know his musical Oeuvre.

His spacious flat was located on the first floor. It can be visited and allows for insights into the daily life of one of a musical genius.

Second floor is dedicated to Mozart's operas and introduced the visitor to his oeuvre. Third floor features a collection on life in baroque Vienna. Mozart's friends and foes are presented and his actions in Vienna illustrated.

Mozarthaus Vienna is the only Mozart flat which has been preserved.
