1. How do I plan my arrival? Is transfer included in the course price?

Your arrival day is Sunday before course start. Please inform your landlord until Tuesday before course start of your exact arrival time. We recommend that you take a cab from airport or train station to your accommodation. It is also possible (and cheaper) to go by bus, train or tube.
You can book transfer service to your accommodation with your German course! You will be met by a driver either at the airport (in the arrivals hall) or the railway station (on the platform direct). You can find up-to-date prices on our price sites.

2. Can I book a transfer service? Where will I meet the driver? How does transfer service work?

Of course. If you book our transfer-services and have told us your exact arrival time you will be met by a driver holding a sign with your name or with an ActiLingua sign. You will be met by a driver either at the airport (in the arrivals hall) or the railway station (on the platform direct).
You can find up-to-date prices on our price sites.

3. What is the public transport system like and how much does it cost?

Vienna's transport network is very efficient. There is an underground (U-Bahn), trams, buses and suburban rail network (Schnellbahn). Tickets are available at all tobacconists and at ticket offices in the underground stations.
There are weekly tickets (EUR14), monthly tickets (EUR 49.50), daily tickets (EUR 5.70), "shopping tickets" (EUR 4.60 valid from Mon - Sat 8:00 am - 8:00 p.m.) and single tickets (EUR 1.70 when purchased in advance). Night owls can travel all over the city by night bus (Ticket: EUR 1.70).
Taxis (Tel. 60 160 or 31 300) are another possibility; there are taxi ranks almost everywhere, and taxis can be ordered by telephone from cafés and restaurants.
Information on public transport in Vienna can be found at http://www.vor.at/ and http://www.wienerlinien.at/ ; http://www.taxi60160.at/, http://www.taxi31300.at/ contain details about taxis in Vienna.

4. Where do I get my ticket for public transport on my first day in Vienna (Sunday)?

Tickets valid for all public transport in Vienna (tube, tram or bus) are available at ticket offices and machines (Sunday, too!) at all tube stations and in all tobacconists (Trafik). Ticket machines accept coins and bills and return the change.

5. What happens on the first day?

All participants need to register on their first day (Monday) at the school office at 8:30 a.m..
If we have received the assessment test until Monday before course start you are assigned your course level after a short oral assessment talk. Afterwards, you will learn your course level and schedule (morning or afternoon).
If not, you need to then fill in the written assessment text. This might lead to you missing your first day in class!

6. Does a member of the host family accompany me to school on the first day?

Our host families will explain the easiest and fastest way to school in all detail and show you on the city map. Then you set out for school independently.
