COURSES FOR ADULTS 16+ |
 |
1. Where can I go online,
surf the web and send emails?
You can take advantage of our free email access to keep in touch with
friends and family back home. If you want to access the Internet,
our computer room is at your disposal.

2. What happens if I
fall ill during the course?
If you fall ill during the course, we will call a doctor for you if
necessary and try and help you as swiftly and unbureaucratically as
possible.

3. Could you provide
me with the names and addresses of former ActiLingua students whom
I can contact as references?
For reasons of data protection we are not permitted to hand over the
addresses and telephone numbers of our students. References from former
ActiLingua students can be found on our website "Student
opinions". Some of them have agreed to publish their email adresses
so that you can contact them.

4. What do I need to
do before I can study at the University of Vienna?
If you would like to study in Vienna, you need a good
command of German. You can demonstrate this either in an ability
test at the university or you can take the OSD-Mittelstufenprüfung
examination. Both are recognized at Austrian universities. ActiLingua
offers preparation courses for this and all other OSD examinations.
Starting dates
for certificate courses: Further details can be found at "Certificate
Courses".
ActiLingua offers an extensive programme "University
and College Preparation".
To enrol you need to make a general application
for university admission to the course and examinations department
of the University of Vienna, Dr. Karl-Lueger-Ring 1, 1010 Vienna.
The application must arrive before 1 September for the winter semester
(1 Oct. - 31 Jan.) and before 1 February for the summer semester (1
March -30 June). The application must contain details of the course
of study. Citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA) and applicants
who are enrolling for a maximum of two semesters only have to apply
during the general admissions period
(dates: http://studieren.univie.ac.at/index.php?id=407)
.
In addition, you need proof of eligibility
for university, i.e. a high school examination certificate
containing all marks and subjects studied. (Under certain circumstances
additional examinations have to be taken.) For most courses of study
an additional university certificate
should be produced, i.e. one which complies with additional
entrance requirements and shows that you are eligible to study
the chosen subject in your own country. All documents must be enclosed
as originals or certified copy and submitted as authorised
translations.
Study fees:
363,36 EUR per semester for EU, EEA or Swiss nationals. 726,72 EUR
per semester for other nationals or stateless persons. These fees
must be paid to the university.
The official requirements for studying in Austria can be consulted
on the website of the University of Vienna's Admissions Office (http://studieren.univie.ac.at/index.php?id=486)
and at the ministry of education site (http://www.bmukk.gv.at).

NOTE: For the form to be valid, you need to print both sides onto
one sheet of paper!

5. I want to travel around
Austria either before or after my course. How can I organize my
trip in advance?
As a part of our leisure protramme we organise weekly excursions
at cost price. Our students visit favourite destinations like Salzburg,
Klosterneuburg, Wachau region, Lake Neusiedl or Graz accompanied
by an experienced tutor.
Austria has many destinations to offer which appeal to all tastes.
The mountainous western provinces are great for year-round hiking
and perfect for winter sports. Water sport fans will find just the
right thing at Salzburg province's lakes, the beautiful Wörthersee
in Carinthia in the warm south and at the huge Lake Neusiedl in
eastern Austria. Culture vultures will be bowled over by the beautiful
historic towns of Graz, Salzburg and Innsbruck. The Internet contains
many addresses which will be of help to you as you select and plan
your trip around Austria; we have compiled a short list for you
below.
Venice, Budapest or Prague, too, are close to Vienna and well worth
a visit.
