Kulturelle Höhepunkte
Der April, der macht was er will. Das alte Sprichwort gilt dieses Jahr für Wien ganz besonders – Regen und Sonnenschein wechseln sich im Stundentakt ab und machen die Kleiderwahl zu einer Herausforderung. Umso besser, dass eine Kulturstadt wie diese auch in trockenen Gebäuden viel zu bieten hat. Bis zum 24. Juni geht es im Ronacher noch bissig zu. Im Musical „Der Tanz der Vampire“ begeistern Drew Sarich als Graf und Marjan Shaki und Lukas Perman als Sarah und Alfred. Als Osterspecial kommt „Jesus Christ Superstar“ auf die Bühne und auch der Herbst wird rockig: „Sister Act“ startet mit neuem Schwung durch.

There is an old saying in Austria about the unsteadiness of April. Especially this year rain and sunshine are taking turns on an hourly basis and make the choice of clothing challenging. So it’s good, that a cultural city like Vienna has a lot to offer inside of dry buildings. Until the 24th of June, vampires are biting the innocent at the “Ronacher” theatre. The musical “Tanz der Vampire” stars Drew Sarich as “Graf von Krolok”, Marjan Shaki and Lukas Perman play Sarah and Alfred. At Easter, “Jesus Christ Superstar” can be enjoyed on stage and even autumn will be rocking: “Sister Act” is coming to town!
Von April bis Oktober (mit Ausnahme von Juli und August) gibt es live am Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz vor der Oper rund 150 Übertragungen von Oper- und Ballettaufführungen. Ein Genuss, der auch noch gratis ist – aber nicht umsonst! Ein heißer Tipp: Auch „Anna Bolena“, die neueste Produktion mit Anna Netrebko ist live zu sehen.

From April to October (exept July and August) one can see up to 150 Live-Viewings of Opera and Ballet performances on the “Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz” in front of the Opera. It’s for free! A hot tip: “Anna Bolena”, the new production starring Anna Netrebko!

Im Mai hoffen wir dann auf besseres Wetter: Die Wiener Festwochen kommen!
Ab dem 13. Mai sind 41 Produktionen zeitgenössischer Bühnenkunst an 17 verschiedenen Spielorten zu sehen. Offen für alle ist die große Eröffnung auf dem Rathausplatz. Es singen Genia Kühmeier, Robert Holl und Michael Schade, begleitet vom ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien. Auch das Finale des Chorwettbewerbs „Österreich singt“ findet an diesem Abend statt. Und wer von den Festwochen nicht genug hat – das 35. Internationale Musikfest läuft parallel dazu und verspricht im Mahlerjahr 2011 Musikgenuss pur.

In May, we are hoping for better weather: The Viennese “Festwochen” are starting! From the 13th of May onwards, 41 productions of contemporary stagecraft can be seen at 17 different places. The big opening at the “Rathausplatz” is open for everybody. Genia Kühmeier, Robert Holl and Michael Schade will be singing with the “ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien”. The finale of the choir-competition “Austria Sings” will also take place. And for those who can’t get enough – the 35. International Music Festival is celebrating the Mahler-Year 2011.
