Student Comment: “Go to Vienna and see for yourself”
“When I came to Vienna, I wasn’t to sure what to expect. I had booked 4 weeks of a German standard course and I had read a bit about Vienna, but I wasn’t quite expecting to fall head over heels in love with this city.
My German course took place in the morings, which was perfect for me because I was free for the afternoon. That way I learned a lot of grammar, new vocabulary and pronunciation in the morning and used it in the afternoon with my classmates or locals.
If you go to Vienna you must check out the museums quarter. Even if you’re not into museums it’s worth going for a walk just to enjoy the breathtaking architecture of the huge buildings.
Schönbrunn Palace is also wonderful and inspiring. Since 1996 it ‘s recognised by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site. The building is breathtaking and the spacious park perfect for an extended stroll. If you walk up to Gloriette you also have an excellent view over the city.
That’s just 2 of my favourite sites, but I can guarantee there is something for everyone!
When I stayed in Vienna I lived with a Viennese host family which was a joy. As soon as I arrived I was part of their family. They made me feel welcome and took me out to a typical Viennese restaurant to sample local food. Be sure to try “Wiener-Schnitzel” with potato salad. Also, they were happy to talk about Vienna and help me find exactly the spots I was looking for. Their eldest daughter recommended some nightlife hotspots (Flex, Arena, the Gürtel) which I might not have found by myself.
All in all, I can recommend choosing Vienna for a German course! It’s an experience!”

Ja, Wien ist immer eine Reise wert. Muss empfohlen werden.
