Perchtoldsdorf - Summer in the country

Already during the Biedermeier era, Perchtoldsdorf was a popular destination for summer outings and holidays. During the 19th century, the town’s development was severly hindered due to its secluded location far from busy roads.

It was this very sleepyness, that attracted the first visitors and the town’s development took on a new spin. Still, it managed to conserve its medieval center. Its fortress cum church with its free-standing Gothic tower is the popular start of our sightseeing tour. We will admire a baroque plague column, as well as the city hall built during the 15th century and many picturesque Gothic and Renaissance buildings reminiscent of the era of the bourgeoisie.
