Our excursion starts at Steinhof,
a psychiatric hospital with exceptional architecture and a
tragic history. During World War II, many members of oppressed
minorities fell prey to the NS regimes measures. A stirring
memorial site situated in the hospitals expansive park is
our 1st stop.
We continue our walk and take time to admire a church designed
by jugendstil architect Otto Wagner. The church at Steinhof
is obvious proof of the cultural heyday of Vienna at the beginning
of the 20th century. Our last station is a look-out called
Jubiläumswarte. If the weather is nice we
will be able to enjoy a perfect view as far as mount Schneeberg,
Lower Austria highest mountain.
This view alone is well worth an excursion
