ActiLingua Academy offers a wide range of courses the whole year round for adults aged 16 and over. If you can already speak some German, there are German courses for you starting every Monday. Courses for beginners start every four weeks. Starting dates: total beginners
The Holiday Course is aimed at students aged 16-19 years, who prefer to spend time with their peers in Vienna. Lessons take place at the ActiLingua-Dependance, which is situated directly next to the ActiLingua Academy. With its spacious park and modern class rooms it is well equipped for housing a youth course in summer. For students of the Holiday Course, there is no supervision.
We offer separate courses for 12 - 17 years old students at our Summer School with 24-hours supervision and support.

Please inform yourself at your insurance company if your insurance is also valid abroad. If not, we recommend to book medical insurance in order to guarantee a free medicare in Austria. EU citizens are automatically insured in Austria (EU form 111 or "European Medical Insurance Card").
You can also book medical insurance with ActiLingua which covers health, accident, liability and luggage insurance. Costs for insurance.

All course participants have to pay for their public transport ticket (approx. EUR 17.10/ week) at registration in Vienna. The ticket is valid for underground, tram and busses in Vienna.

Lessons are in small groups (max. 15 participants), from Monday to Friday. Students practice grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and oral comprehension in systematically structured lessons.

Lessons take place from Monday to Friday:
Holiday course 1: 09:00 am - 12:15 pm or 02:15 - 05:30 pm
Holiday course 2 (additional): 07:15 - 08:45 am or 12:30 - 02:00 pm or 05:45 - 07:15 pm

Each student receives an assessment test at the time of registration. The test must be returned two weeks before the German course starts at latest in order to ensure that the student is allocated to the right course level. Otherwise, it can happen that students miss the classes on the first day.
The test takes approximately 60 minutes to complete. Naturally, and it is only useful to us if the student completes it alone, without help. On the day of arrival, there is a short oral assessment test.

Apart from authentic teaching materials prepared by our teachers, we use textbooks from the following publishers: Hueber, Verlag für Deutsch and Langenscheidt. Our courses follow accepted curricula, from level A1 to C2. Modern teaching materials and equipment are used. We have CD and DVD players, together with a large collection of CDs and DVDs for language teaching purposes, on topics including the arts, Austria, literature and business. Use of the multimedia library is a good way of adding and reinforcing the skills acquired in class work.

Our teachers speak standard German as their mother tongue and have a teaching qualification as well as experience in working with young people. They are highly qualified and regularly attend training courses held by ActiLingua.

Students are accommodated in shared rooms with half-board at a student house that is perfectly suited to welcome a young international crowd. The shared rooms feature their own shower and toilet. There is also a fridge in each room available.

The Student House is located near the city center. ActiLingua Academy is accessible in about 25-30 minutes by public transport.

Half-board is included in the price; breakfast and dinner are served.

If explicitly requested (please indicate on the registration form under the "special wishes" or "comments" section!), this is possible. In general, we try to put participants of the same age but different nationalities together.

We recommend Holiday Course students to book accommodation in our Student House because many activities and plus options take place there and the meeting point for excursions is always at the reception of the Student House. The school can be reached in approx. 25-30 minutes by public transport.

Exceptionally, if students really prefer, we could offer accommodation in a Host Family if they are available on the requested date.

Check-In: Sunday before the start of the course between 09:00 am and 05:00 pm in the Student House. Please inform us in case of arriving later.
