We are continuing our teacher profile series, today we meet Mareen!
What do you enjoy about teaching?
The diversity in topics, the intercultural exchange, the students’ joy when they achieve something or are simply enjoying the lessons.
Is there a fun story from your time as an ActiLingua teacher, which you can share?
For one lesson, the students were asked to bring a popular item from their home country. As all the items shared were somehow connected to food, we ended up so hungry, that we all went for lunch after our lesson.
What do you like to do most during your off time in Vienna?
I love cycling along the Danube Canal or in the Prater. Having a cup of coffee and a slice of cake in one of Vienna’s many cafés and visit one of Vienna’s many free culture and leisure events in summer. (e.g. film and music festivals)
Which pub/bar/restaurant could you recommend to our ActiLingua Students?
In summer, I would definitely recommend Tel Aviv Beach next to the Danube Canal. Apart from that, the Naschmarkt (e.g. Tewa, Deli, Neni, etc.) is great all year round.
What is your personal sightseeing tip for people visiting Vienna?
The Kahlenberg offers a spectacular view over Vienna, which is particularly beautiful in the evening!
