We are continuing our teacher profile series. Today, we meet Marlis.
How long have you been teaching at ActiLingua?
Since July 2012.
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
Clearly, the international environment and the many interesting people whom I get to meet.
Is there a story from your time as an ActiLingua teacher, which you can share?
In the course, we talked about holidays. A student said that he would like to have a “day of development” for all families. In the meantime, another student was chatting away. I asked her, if she could repeat what her classmate had said. She said: “Sure, he would like to have a day of disrobement!”
What do you like to do most during your time off in Vienna?
Art and culture. I love all that Vienna’s cultural institutions have to offer. I also love to ride a bicycle J In summer, I like to go swimming in the Kaiserwasser and visit many open-air events in Vienna – most of which are for free!
Which bar could you recommend to our ActiLingua students?
I love Vollpension. There are cakes from grandma’s recipes, and the furniture is as comfortable as in a living room.
What is your personal sightseeing tip for people visiting Vienna?
I could spend hours in the museum on the weekend. I recommend the WestLicht for fans of photography. The Secession does not only show the famous Beethoven Frieze by Klimt, but also interesting contemporary art of emerging artists.
