Our students experienced the flair of a very special city, where culture and technology are uniquely combined – Linz.

ActiLingua Studenten in Linz

The city’s history can be traced back to the 4th century BC when people first settled in the area. Currently, Linz presents as Austria’s second largest centre of commerce and is used as a venue for major cultural events.

During a guided city walk, our students got to know the most important sights, like the main square. Furthermore, they were intrigued by St. Mary’s Cathedral, which was only consecrated after a 62-year construction period in 1924.

Geeks galore

Once a year, Linz is host to the Ars Electronica festival, connecting art to technology. Artists, scientists and researchers from all over the world come to Linz to hold lectures and workshops, and to organise exhibitions.

Although our students did not experience the festival, they were able to get an insight into the world of technology at the Ars Electronica Center, which offers a varied and interesting programme.

One thing became clear: Linz is always worth a visit. Europe’s Culture Capital of 2009 has something for everybody. Our students came back to Vienna, loaded with impressions of this great trip.
