Trip to the Lainzer Tiergarten and Hermesvilla with ActiLingua

What better way to spend a warm Saturday, than with exercise and culture outdoors, in the well-known Wiener Wald? On April, 5 the ActiLingua Academy organized an excursion to the Lainzer Tiergarten and Hermesvilla for its students. 10 young and joyous students, along with our group-leader, gathered at 9:30am at the meeting point Hütteldorf and… let’s go! Within a short walk we arrived at the Lainzer Tor, we stepped into the wild.

Fresh air, beautiful landscapes and a calm atmosphere: this was the backdrop of our hiking tour. However, the wild animals didn’t reveal themselves until later. At some point, one of us remarked “I might have underestimated the size of this wildlife park…” He was right, we were all surprise to find out it has 24.50 km²! During a short stop to have a snack and recharge our batteries, our teacher Therese told us the brief history of the Lainzer Tiergarten and the Hermesvilla. Interesting as it may have been, our attention was distracted by… a boar! Running around wild and free in the forest… The surprised and funny expressions on our faces made a great group photo!

Thanks to the jokes, short stories and lots of photos we took, the walk seemed shorter and not so tiresome. Eventually we arrived at the Hermesvilla where we had a guided tour. On the way back, we stopped by at the “Moufflons Park”, which entertained us all. “It was an effort to get up this morning… but I’m glad I came.” Even though at the end of the day we were all tired, everybody left with nice memories and lots of photos reminders 🙂

However, there was more to the excursion than just the wildlife park and the villa. It’s about the cultural exchange, because the students came from all over the world (Italy, Ukraine, Bulgaria, France, Kazakhstan, Russia, Romania…) so we formed a polyglot and multicultural group. Everybody had the chance to exchange impressions about Vienna, languages and curiosities about our own countries; of course, only in German! Simply: an ActiLingua experience!
