Highlights

Why learn German through acting?

Acting invites a deep engagement with text and language – skills that are essential for any language learner. Through tools such as text analysis, pronunciation and elocution exercises, you’ll develop a more intuitive sense of rhythm, tone, and flow in German.

Theatre offers a unique environment open to exploration. You bring ideas, listen, take risks and most importantly: you are allowed to fail. This process of experimentation and play isn’t just how engaging performances are created – it’s also how language is truly learned.

The rehearsal space is a judgement-free zone, offering the freedom to discover what works – for both the performance and your personal language journey.

Week 1

Ensemble work

Collaboration is at the heart of theatre. Through a variety of exercises, games and improvisation, we will get to know each other as an ensemble and discover the joy of creating something together.

Acting fundamentals

How can we apply our voice, body and imagination to bring a performance to life? How can we play with language? In this session, we’ll explore essential acting tools and dive into text and character work.

Week 2

Rehearsals

We will work on compelling monologues and scenes from German plays. In the rehearsal session, we will apply the tools from Week 1 and practice.

Final performance

Showtime! The module ends with a small group presentation.
