ActiLingua Academy offers a wide range of courses year-round for adults aged 16 and over. If you already have some knowledge of German, you can start a course any Monday. Beginner courses start every four weeks.

The Holiday Course is designed for students aged 16-19 who want to spend time with peers in Vienna. Lessons take place at the ActiLingua Dependence, located right next to the main ActiLingua Academy building. With its spacious park and modern classrooms, it’s an ideal setting for summer youth courses. Please note that supervision is not provided for students in the Holiday Course.

If 24-hour supervision is preferred, students aged 16 and 17 are welcome to register for our Summer School program, which is designed for 12-17 year-olds and includes full-time supervision and support.

Before traveling, please verify with your insurance provider whether your coverage extends to Austria. If it doesn’t, we recommend securing medical insurance to ensure access to healthcare services during your stay. EU citizens are typically covered in Austria through the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). For added convenience, ActiLingua offers an insurance package that can be booked during the online registration process. The costs are shown during registration and may vary based on country of origin and age; these details are confirmed after initial registration.

You can conveniently add a public transport ticket to your booking through us. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to book on your own, tickets are available via the Wiener Linien online ticket shop or the WienMobil app. The app allows you to plan routes, check real-time departures, and purchase tickets directly from your smartphone. It’s free to download on both the App Store and Google Play.

German Courses

Lessons are held in small groups with a maximum of 15 participants, from Monday to Friday. Students engage in systematically structured lessons focusing on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and listening comprehension.

Lessons take place from Monday to Friday:
Holiday Course Standard 25: 09:00 am – 12:15 pm or 02:15 – 05:30 pm
Holiday Course Intensive 35: 12:30 – 02:00 pm or 05:45 – 07:15 pm

Each student completes an assessment test upon registration, which must be submitted at least two weeks before the start of the course to ensure proper course placement. Without timely submission, students risk missing the first day’s classes. The test takes about 60 minutes to complete and is most helpful if completed independently. Additionally, a short oral assessment is conducted on the day of arrival.

In your course, you’ll benefit from authentic teaching materials prepared by our teachers, along with textbooks from renowned publishers like Hueber, Verlag für Deutsch, and Langenscheidt. Following established standards, our curriculum covers all levels from A1 to C2. Our team is here to support you in reinforcing the skills practiced in class.

Your teachers are native speakers of standard German with teaching qualifications and experience working with young people. They are highly qualified, participate in regular training sessions organized by our team, and, most importantly, are passionate and motivating in their approach.

Accommodation features

Students at ActiLingua Holiday Course stay at our Premium Partner B&B Hotel. They are accommodated in air-conditioned shared (for 2-3 students) or, if booked, in single rooms. Breakfast is included and rooms are regularly serviced with fresh towels and bed linens. Each room features its own own shower and toilet.

To ActiLingua School: Premium Partner B&B Hotel is about 15 minutes away by public transport or approximately 30 minutes on foot.
To the City Center (Stephansplatz): It takes about 30 minutes using public transport, or you can walk there in around 40 minutes.

We’ve partnered with several nearby restaurants where students can enjoy meals at a special rate of around 10-15 EUR with the ActiLingua card. Students have the option to dine individually or join organized group outings for those who prefer to eat together. Breakfast is included in your hotel booking; however, lunch and dinner are not part of the package fee.

Generally, we try to pair students with different native languages and nationalities to encourage an intercultural experience. However, if explicitly requested, sharing a room with someone of the same native language or nationality is possible.

We recommend that Holiday Course students book accommodation at our Premium Partner, B&B Hotel House, where most students stay and which is conveniently located near the school. However, if desired, we can occasionally arrange a homestay accommodation, depending on availability. Please keep in mind that staying with a host family may involve some limitations in planning your time.

Exceptionally, if students really prefer, we could offer accommodation in a Host Family if they are available on the requested date.

Check-In at our Premium Partner B&B Hotel: Sunday before the start of the course, between 12:00 and 5:00 pm. Please note that some rooms may not be available before 3:00 pm. If you plan to arrive later, kindly inform us in advance.
Check-Out: Saturday by 11:00 am

Culture and leisure programme

In the afternoons and evenings after class, we offer a varied leisure and sports program. Cultural and leisure activities 3 days per week are included in the course price.
Cultural activities: Group activities like student get-togethers, Vienna by night tours, Viennese Walz course or guided city walks offer additional opportunities for speaking German and having fun with the accompanying teachers and classmates.

Excursions: Those interested in getting to know more of Austria are welcome to take part in our various outings – e.g. to Salzburg, Seegrotte Hinterbrühl, Lake Neusiedl or ‘Burg Kreuzenstein’.
Vienna Highlights: Get to know what Vienna has to offer up culturally, be it guided museum tours or visiting one of the Open-Air cinemas that spring up around the city during the summer.
Concert: A trip to a classical concert for all classical music buffs who visit Vienna.

The culture and leisure program is optional, but we highly recommend it! It’s a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, connect with other students, and make the most of your experience with us. Joining the program can add memorable experiences and insights that truly enrich your stay.
