Learn German and Study Music in Vienna

Vienna is the city where the musical greats Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms lived and worked. Learn German and study music at the Vienna Beethoven Conservatory.

In cooperation with the Vienna Beethoven Conservatory, ActiLingua Academy in Vienna offers an opportunity to combine a German course with music studies.

5 lessons cultural/special interest programme are organised 2 to 3 times per week and are included in the price.

Description

  • Lessons: Standard Course (20) or Intensive Course (30) + music lesson (1) + cultural/special interest programme (5) per week | (1 lesson = 45 minutes)

  • Group size:

    • Standard Course: 8-10 (max. 12 students),
    • Intensive Course: mini group 5-6 (max. 8 students)

  • Duration: 4-52 weeks

  • Minimum age: 16 years

    *Please note that a proficiency with the latin alphabet is required for our German courses, as we don’t offer alphabetization courses.

  • Holidays at the Conservatory:
    Public holidays and Dec. 23, 2023 – Jan. 6, 2024 / Feb. 5-10 / March 23 – April 1 / May 18-20 / June 29 – Sept. 1 / Nov. 1-2 / Nov. 15 / Dec. 24, 2024 – Jan. 6, 2025. – No teaching takes place on holidays. Tuition lost for this reason cannot be subsequently made up.

Course Details

German course

German course of your choice with 20 to 30 German lessons and 5 lessons (2-3 times) of cultural and special interest classes per week. You study German for 4 or 6 lessons daily from Monday to Friday in small international groups, following a recognized curriculum. Our cultural programme with its Vienna city walks, talks and other activities promotes insights into Austrian culture and music.

  • Standard Course: You study German in 20 lessons per week. 5 lessons of cultural and leisure programme per week are included in the price.
  • Intensive Course: You study German in 30 lessons per week: 20 lessons Standard Course + 10 lessons in mini-groups of max. 8 students. 5 lessons of cultural and leisure programme per week are included in the price.

Culture/Special interest Programme

Cultural and leisure activities are organized 2 to 3 times per week (5 lessons) and are included in the price. Talks, discussions on Austrian music, art, literature, tours of the sights of Vienna, parties and sports – all form part of this programme.

Music at the Vienna Beethoven Conservatory

Music instruction takes place at the Vienna Beethoven Conservatory which is about 20 minutes from ActiLingua Academy by public transportation. About 600 students from all over the world study music at the music institute. Instruction for music students and professionals and music lessons for enthusiastic amateurs is available.

Practical music lessons: You receive one individual instrumental (e.g. violin, piano, clarinet etc.) or vocal lesson per week.
Practice facilities: Information on rehearsal rooms in Vienna is available on site at ActiLingua Academy (approx. EUR 2,5 to EUR 7 per hour).

No music teaching during holidays. Lessons cannot be made up subsequently.

Diplomas

  • A Vienna Beethoven Conservatory certificate testifying the attended music lessons and the educational level,
  • ActiLingua certificate

Applicants’ requirements

  • Beginners of German can start the German course and practical music lessons at the same time.
  • Good knowledge of German is necessary to follow the lessons at the Vienna Beethoven Conservatory.
